Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery is a spectacular Victorian
landmark building and has the world's largest Pre-Raphaelite
collection, master works by French, Dutch and Italian
Baroque artists as well as
contemporary paintings,
silver, ceramics, archaeology and social history.
Recent additions are the Waterhall Gallery of Modern Art
- home to the city's collection of modern and contemporary
works - and the Explore Galleries. The galleries contain
an extended display of the Pinto collection, the world
famous collection of wooden objects, as well as Visions
of Birmingham which explores Birmingham's past present
and future. Relive a Victorian skullery, 1950's kitchen
or World War II refuge room and then the galleries are
brought together with a "Wonderwall" taken from
the Museum's large collection of human history objects.
