The summit of Helvellyn is the second highest peak of the
Lake District. The view is said to be the best of the entire
district. When standing at the summit you can see lakes in
every direction. Helvellyn is located between Ullswater and
Thirlmere lakes and can be reached by trails from several
directions. If you hike from the Thirlmere side, it will probably
take you about 5 hours up and down. If you are looking for
a nice all-day hike in the Lake District, with great views,
Helvellyn is the place to be.
This trail starts from a parking lot by the roadside somewhere
halfway the Thirlmere. From this parking lot, you can also
opt for a walk through the forest, with great views of trees,
streams, flowers, etc. |
