London Underground

The London Underground, also known as the "London Tube" is one of the top attractions for visitors coming from countries where such technology is still rare. The Tube is served by 12 different routes called as lines. These lines are Bakerloo Line, Central Line, Circle Line, District Line, East London Line, Hammersmith & City Line, Jubilee Line, Metropolitan Line, Northern Line, Piccadilly Line, Victoria Line & Waterloo & City Line.

The Jubilee Line being the newest of the 12 is the fastest

and has much cleaner trains. The stations are also comparatively newer and most are accessible for wheelchair users via elevators. All lines cover a total of 255 miles (408 kms) of trackway. Some stations are also overground.

The Tube serves 275 stations across London, but manages only 255 of them and actually owns 2 less, that is 253 of all 275 tube stations. 408 escalators and 112 lifts keep passengers moving throughout the system. Waterloo station has the most escalators, with 25. The Underground's busiest station is Victoria, with 76.5 million passengers a year.
