Tate Modern Art Gallery

The Tate Modern, opened in May 2000, is Britain's new national museum of modern art. The building belong to the Bankside Power Station, along the River Thames.

The main entrance at the gallery, the Hall is wide open with has a high ceiling, sometimes, there are exhibitions going on. Also, they do performances as dance in this entrance because the big set-ups they can build in it.

There is also an extensive range of special exhibitions and a programme of events throughout the year.

 

Bronze Spider, Tate Modern Art Gallery


Tate Modern is a spectacular setting for displaying the Tate's collection of international and contemporary art from 1900 to the present day, including major works by Bacon, Dalí, Picasso, Matisse, Rothko and Warhol as well as recent work by artists such as Steve McQueen, Rebecca Horn and Gillian Wearing.

The buiding has also a coffee room and restaurant at the top floor, where is very nice to stay while observing the sunset over the River Thames. Besides, it has another restaurant and bar at the ground floor, at the side with the main entrance. And a bookshop in the hall-entrance where is possible to find the catalogues of the exhibitions goin on and a large variety of titles and artist in the Modern Art field.

Directions

Tate Modern is located on the south bank of the River Thames at Bankside, near Blackfriars Bridge, opposite St Paul's Cathedral and next to the Globe Theatre.

By Tube: Southwark (Jubilee Line) and Blackfriars (District and Circle Lines) - Both are less than 10 minutes walk away from the gallery.


By Rail: Vauxhall & Victoria

By Bus: 381, RV1
