London

Welcome to London, the vibrant capital of Europe. With a population of 7.5 million people and around 1584 sq. km. to accomodate them, London is the largest city in Europe. Approximately 30% of the population in London is from minority ethnic groups.

For your entertainment, London presents you with 3800 pubs, 233 night clubs, and over 100 movie theatres, so you will never find yourself bored at any time of the day. Three of the top 10 paid, and six of top 10 free tourist attractions are located in this magnificient city. You can dine yourself at any of the 6128 restaurants to a menu from 70 different countries.

The busiest shopping street in Europe, Oxford Street is based in the heart of London with 200m annual visitors a turnover of over £5 bn. With mega stores like Harrods and Selfridges, you are bound to find anything and everything that you wish to buy. Every year, 120m people use London Airports who are taken around London by 22,000 London taxis and a further 2,500 mini cabs.

The British Airways London Eye has become, literally, the way the world sees London. Undoubtedly one of the most spectacular and popular attractions in the world, drawing visitors from far and wide.

The spectacular Tower Bridge was completed in a span of 8 years and opened in 1894 by Edward the 7th who was then the Prince of Wales. Without doubt, it is one of London's famous land marks enhancing the beauty of the Thames river.

The Houses of Parliament, or Palace of Westminster, commonly known as Big Ben, was originally laid out for Edward the Confessor more than 1,000 years ago. In 1066 it became the home of William the Conqueror and his court and remained the principal residence of English kings for the next 400 years, until Henry VIII.

Buckingham Palace has served as the official London residence of Britain's sovereigns since 1837. It evolved from a town house that was owned from the beginning of the eighteenth century by the Dukes of Buckingham. Today it is The Queen's official residence. Although in use for the many official events and receptions held by The Queen, areas of Buckingham Palace are opened to visitors on a regular basis. Set in a lush green area, you will enjoy your visit to this great piece of history.

A must see attraction in the heart of London is the Madame Tussauds Wax Museum. And if you thought its big time, wait till you discover that there's more fun inside than it looks. Yes, there is a live horror chamber which is dark & spooky, where real actors of the museum will scare the guts out of you. Trafalgar Square, the main hub of Central London, was built to honour one of Britains greatest naval tacticians Admiral Lord Horatio Nelson. This followed his victory in 1805 at the Battle of Trafalgar, off the coast of Spain.

For sheer beauty, there is no comparison to Westminster Abbey. It has been the site for every coronation since 1066 and is the burial place of Kings, warriors, poets, scientists, and musicians. For almost one thousand years, Westminister Abbey has been the setting for much of London's ceremonies such as Royal Weddings, Coronations, and Funeral Services.

Travelling around London
 
London is probably the easiest city to travel around.
