The Lowry

The Lowry is the mixture of a theatre & Gallery Complex. It can be located in the ultra modern Salford Quays in Manchester. Inside you can find a drama studio which has the biggest stage in the UK. There are also two theatres, the Lyric and the Quays. The Lowry was opened on 28th April 2000 and was built at a cost of £106m. On the southern side of the building, you can find a restaurant, cafes and bars, with amazing water side views. You can there by explain why this place is busting with people during summer.

The Lowry is host to many activities like children's shows, art activities, drama workshops and many times, there are simply free-fun-days open to all.

During opening hours, there is a Meet Mr. Lowry film, which lasts about 20 minutes, which has proved good for the deaf and hard of hearing. You can also obtain free gallery information from the reception.

Here you will find the largest collection of L S Lowry's works. Initially being called Salford Art Gallery, the name was changed to The Lowry in 2000 due to the vast number of works presented by L S Lowry. At the time of writing, there are over 350 paintings and drawings that span Lowry's entire career.

The Lowry is a very nice place for any family to visit. Children love the vibrant colours of the stairs and the sheer size of the theatres. There is a special character called Jack who awaits children and families with loads of activites & fun. Jack was found in one of Lowry's paintings. It is also helpful to know that The Lowry was designed with accessibility in mind and can be easily explored with sloping floors and elevators. A special activity called Hide and Seek Trail is most enjoyed by children.

Being such a popular venue, The Lowry also caters to Wedding ceremonies and celebrations. They have a special wedding co-ordinator who knows all about the needs of a wedding and will take a huge load of your shoulders.
