The velodrome has been host to the 2002 Commonwealth Games, and the UCI world championships in 1996, 2000 and 2008.

Being one of the finest track in the world, it is no wonder that 15 world records have been set here at the time of writing.

The track is 250m long with its bankings reaching elevations in excess of 40 degrees in someplaces. The track was resurfaced in June 2007.

The Velodrome also hosts other sports like Basketball, Netball & Badminton.

On non-event days, the Velodrome is open for use by general public. You can ride a bike in the 1 hour track "Taster" session, where you will be given a bike and a helmet.

This venue is also available for corporate hire. On offer is 2500 sq. mts. of floor space, extensive security monitored car park and its location close to the heart of Manchester.

No video cameras or audio recording devices. No coolboxes. No bottles, cans or alcohol. No smoking.
