It is said that a monster named
Nessie lives in Loch Ness. So much so are people interested
in finding Nessie that a person in England
gave up his full time job in the search for Nessie. He hasn't
found her for over a decade, but has not lost hope.
You would love to stroll on the shore line of Lock Ness and
throw a pebble or two in it to see if you have awaken Nessie.
Cruises of this wonderful lake are also available and can
be booked directly in person.
Because of its monster Loch Ness has become one of the most
famous lochs in the world. It is the largest loch in Britain
by volume of water, being 24 miles long, averaging 1 mile
wide and up to 740 feet deep. The loch receives seven rivers,
Farigaig, Foyers, Tarff, Oich, Moriston, Coilte and Enrick
and its only outlet is the River Ness. Loch Ness, lying in
a natural geographical fault that stretches across the width
of Scotland, forms part
of the Caledonian Canal built by the engineer Thomas Telford
in 1822.
